So I knew years ago there was an old vice mounted on a piece of lumber up in the rafters of my shed. When I bought my place.
I never really looked at it and basically forgot about it.
Yesterday I was crawling around up there looking for some lumber for a project and came across it.

Looks like it was made January 1947.
Inner half had model# 935 and outer jaw has 835 on it.
I don't know if this is 2 different vices put together. Or it is a 935/835.
Guess I need to do some research on them.
It looks like it will clean up nice.

It's nice to find something nice once in awhile.
Normally it just a bunch of broken stuff.

I have a 935. The dynamic jaw on mine is also marked 835, but my 835 is recessed into the casting, and the 935 is protruding from the casting like yours.

Thanks guys!
I see there is a ton of info on here about these. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do.
I Will definitely be bringing this one back into service.
I hate seeing things go to waste.

I don't know what you paid for your place when you bought it but regardless, YOU **** for acquiring that vise like you did, unbeknownst to you at the time.

I think it was planned....they were trying to swindle the homeowner for the sweet vice[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I bought my place from friends of my grandparents. This was there retirement home after they sold off their farm.
After he died, his wife sold us the place.
She told me that everything in the shed came with the house. Because she didn't want to have to clean it out.

I think that was the last good thing to find in the shed.

I picked up another vise the other day.
I guess it's time to start cleaning them both up.
I'm guessing this one is not that old but I'm not sure.
Only thing I can see wrong with it other than being full of paint.
Is the swivel base is not locking when it's tighten up. 448d4cab8aeef2cb694e76414c109711.jpg4e7fbd2a370f2cae84b10061adcf741b.jpg24a5de33bb312ffaa0b20877768eaba3.jpg
