Wilton vise - 350S?

Good morning all,
I recently came into possession of this Wilton vise, I’m pretty sure based on what I’ve seen here and other places it is a 350S. It’s in rough shape, but I able to get it apart and make it start turning. It seems to be missing the end cap so it just pushes the nut out of the back when you try to open the jaws. Is this all that’s missing? It doesn’t seem like the cap alone would be enough to capture the nut from pushing out.

Anyway, please take a look and let me know if I’ve got something worth saving or putting any time into. If it’s worth it, I’ll give it a quick refurb and start using it.

Thanks for the input

I got an email notification that this thread had been responded to, but it's not showing when I look at the actual thread? Never seen this before

I am not sure I am understanding you correctly. Are you saying the nut is lose inside the vise?

If that's the case then you should check if the retaining pins are in place. Those pins attach the rear assembly to the main vise body. Here's a video showing the removal of the pins I'm talking about:

As for the missing rear end cap, you can use an engine freeze plug that fits or you can buy a very nice replacement from http://www.wiltonviseparts.net

It looks like the pins are in from the outside? Could they be broken? I honestly didn't look that close, I'll try to get some clearer pictures this evening.

The nut, it is loose inside. If you unthread the dynamic end all the way, you can remove the nut completely. Tightening is no problem, because the nut ***** up against the vice body and functions as it should. When you loosed though, it pushes the nut out of the hole I assume the end cap covers.

Here's a good video explaining the rear assembly.

A word of caution, the pin holes may not be aligned so punching both pins through like in the video may not be possible.
