Wilton vise concerns....?

I am thinking of purchasing the vise. But they ran bolts all the way through to install the jaws. I am a bit concerned that it weakened the vise....?

That’s a rare SJ model Wilton (as you can plainly see, the base is missing). If the castings aren’t cracked by that horrible modification I would still buy it and put it back to stock condition or resell it to a collector who is ready to do just that.
Look it over for other damage. Crank it in and out all the way. Examine the tailpiece casting as best you can to see if damage was covered up by that thick paint.

The amount of material removed will weaken that beast an incredibly tiny amount. You will most likely never stress it anywhere close to the breaking point. Definitely takes away some value for resale though.
