I found this Wilton vise recently and I cannot find a model number anywhere on it. It has 4" wide jaws (but no pipe jaws) and it built pretty stout (30+ lbs). It is marked "Shuller Park, Illinois USA" nut other than what looks to be serial numbers I do not see any markings on it. Unlike the older bullet vises, there is no warranty expiration date on the bottom of the moving jaw part (whatever that is called) on the vise. Does anyone recognize this vise?

It does not look like the vise was used or abused much. The serrations on the jaws look perfect. It just needs some cleanup and grease on the screw.

Thanks

I believe thats an early 740 series made here before they took production overseas. Its a great HD utility home vise. About 35-40 years old .

autopts: Thanks for the information. I just finished cleaning and polishing the vise and it looks pretty good. I'll post some pictures of it on the Bench Vise thread. It does look similar to the current Wilton 744, but this one weighs 46 lbs and the current import 744 weights 37 lbs. So I guess Wilton "value-engineered" it at some point.
