It looks an awful lot like my No. 4, but it's hard to tell for sure. I think $150 is pretty high for a vise that size, $100 or less would be more reasonable.

Thanks sport ,when I found it I got excited I was beginning to think I was unworthy of posting here because I felt like I was the only one who didn't own one.

4", Swivel and if it's in complete and great condition it's worth $150 IMO.

Prices vary regionally.

I just found out it's a 4" 480 model

It's actually a model 840, and is an early vise with the oval logo and patent pending markings. That puts it in the first couple of years production (1941-1942 most likely, but there are exceptions). They are nice vises, but are quite a bit smaller, lighter and less durable than the newer models of the same jaw size.

$150 is pretty good for a 4" Wilton on a swivel base, and finding one cheaper, almost anywhere, will take some luck.

Here's a 1941/42 Pat Pen No. 4 next to a late 1970s 400S.....no comparison which is the larger, stronger vise.

I don't know how many 4" Wiltons you've bought lately, but finding a clean one on a swivel base for $100 will take a huge stroke of luck.

The 1970s vise is one I restored...it was in great shape, but the paint was terrible when I got it, so it was an easy job.

I was asking Super Sport how many he'd bought lately because he said $150 was too high. I guess there might be somewhere that $150 is too high for a 4" bullet, but I'd be surprised....we have more of them around here than most places and that would be a good price.

The additional pictures show it's definitely an early vise...first couple of years production for Wilton. The jaws with straight lines were only used for a couple of years, and match the markings. I would set those aside and buy a new set of standard serrated jaws that will work better. Lots of folks would want that vise, and pay more than $150 for it, no doubt!

What the owner is asking for that vise is reasonable. It isn't a screaming deal, but it isn't overpriced either.

After seeing the additional pictures, I think that's the vise AngryBeaver bought and posted pictures of a few days ago. I could be wrong, but it sure looks the same, and from the same area.

I don't think it's the same one but ,I have not seen the pictures Angry posted. His profile has his location quite a bit farther away from where the vice is located. The seller said he will be home later today and I hope to meet him.

Excellent vise at a good price. Some folks (including me) prefer the earlier Wilton bullets, although they are somewhat less HD compared to the more recent versions. Note you will need a wrench to operate the swivel locks; it appears the very early bullet vises were supplied with acorn nuts instead of the more common swivel lock handles.
