So I have a 2 bay garage with access from an inclined driveway. If I have a car towed to the house, and I'm not home to unload the tow truck, they just drop it on the street. This is fine except its a pain to get the vehicle up the hill and into the garage. My idea was to buy a winch and use the same concrete anchors as the lift and attach it to the floor on the lift bay to help pull vehicles in if need be. Has anyone done this? Is the a realistic plan?

I’m pretty sure someone else was doing this a while back and asked the same questions.

Search for “garage winch anchor”.

I had the same problem especially in the winter. I mounted a receiver to the floor with concrete anchors and use a hitch mounted winch. When I need it I slide it in the receiver and connect it to a jumper pack. My winch has a remote also so you can sit the the car and steer it right in. It really works great.

I'll take a picture for you tonight but its basically these two things below. I like being able to remove the winch to use for other things. The receiver lives under my tool box so its out of the way.

Its one of these bolted to the floor.

And one of these modified to bolt to the winch. HF has actual winch mounts also which would be better. I had this already so I used it.

Get a pull pot if you don’t want it attached all the time. Get an ac powered one. Depending on driveway length you might need additional straps to reach.

Not only additional straps, but you will have to reel it in, chock the tires, pay out the line, remove the added length, then rinse and repeat. I would not want to have to do that often

Have seen lake homes use a system like that to pull a boat trailer in and out of the water, worked good

I had a HF 3500lbs winch for a while attached to my 4 post. I hooped a strap around the main lift beam. Worked well for pulling cars up on the ramps and onto the lift. It had a wireless remote that worked within about 25 ft. IIRC it was about $80 a few years back.

Another option for vehicles with hitches is to make up a double hitched pipe.
2 cheap couplers and some 2 x 4 tube was all it took.
With this, I can move my junk around my yard and into the garage by myself if needed....although the neighbors think I'm a bit nuts!
