I looked at Walmart today and found the buck knifes. They looked pretty nice. Cheapest one they had was 34.97. They also have some other nice knifes to. I still have lots of time, so I think I will look for knife on ebay and keep a eye out for deals. I would like something USA made, but i'm scared no matter how nice the knife is he will end up losing it and not even caring. Somethings are not ment to be treated like trash....and in his case he treats everything like it doesn't matter to him, except for his tools. If one comes up missing he freaks (from what I have seen) and when I threw them when I was helping him work on stuff he yells at me about throwing them because I could break his tools.

If this is what he primarily needs one for, the folding box cutter is a good choice as Salt + damp isn't good for any knife, even SS.

I'd bet you could get one with a clip AND a place for a lanyard...

He has lots of box cutters. I just thought another knife would be nice. I didn't know they had folding box cutters.

I have been collecting antique knives for decades now, mainly folders and military. Just wanted everyone to know there are actually 3 different era's of Winchester knives. After WWI Winchester bought out a few older knife manufactuers and produced knives in their gun factory till WWII. These are VERY high quality and expensive. Then @20 years ago Winchester prostituted itself and started selling its name to the highest bidder. For a limited time Gerber produced some knives with Winchesters name. Now these are Chinese imports and from what I have seen, poor to fair quality, depending on which model you purchase. The knife the OP is talking about appears to be of higher quality.

This is a decent knife. Light, holds an edge pretty good, and best of all, easy to see if you drop it in the snow. The serratted blade is a nice touch and will come in handy when you need a kinfe out in the cold. I'd go for it. I might get one myself. In fact I will get one tomorrow.

I stop buy walmart today and could not decide which knife I liked better so I bought them both. Walmart near me did not have the knife you have posted but they did have the knives I have. The Winchester cost $14.00 and the Kershaw cost $10.00. They are both very sharp but the Kershaw has a nicer edge and is sharper. Both kinves have solid locks and a solid feel. The Winchester opens smoother than the Kersaw. Both knifes are made in China. I would recomend both knives but I like the Kersaw better of the two. The blade on my Winchester is the same on the knife you posted but mine has aluminum scales, stronger, and a black blade. The pocket clip on both knives are strong so you will not lose your knife. The Winchester is a "PARFIVE". The KERSHAW IS A "CROWN 3160". One more note: I noticed that Walmart had a Kersaw Blurr with the assited opening like mine for $39.00.

Thanks for the info. I will have to check them out!! Last week when i checked they didnt have many knifes, they had a few brands.

I agree it wouldn't be so easy to lose.
