Window A/C unit vs Garage door

I have a small window ac from my old office and would like to install it in my windowless garage. Thinking about hanging or making brackets for the ac unit. Are there flex tubes and vents/grates available to rout the exhaust outside through the garage door? Did I miss any similar threads in search? Is this a good idea?

Thanks!

Not sure if that would be efficient.... that back side of the windows AC is doing two things it draws ambient air from top / side louvers and used it to cool the fins of the condenser exhaust it to the back..... when you enclosed it in an duct.... not sure if you can have the air flow wellenough for air to be drawn and circulates to cool the condenser well enough...

Don't forget all the water that dribbles out the back of window units too

If you are a Hvac guy,, I have seen people actually split the windows unit and make it into a split AC... :) that was all the way back in the early 90s I have seen that done....

Mount it in the wall - that's what I do with mine.

My last house I bought had one mounted in the wall. I was like WTF at first..... Then it got hot and I loved that thing. I haven't put one in my new garage yet. But I will.

Get a mini split. They are way more efficient. I bet a "small office AC" won't make a dent in west Texas heat in a garage, other than to your electricity billl.

At my last house in an HOA, I mounted a large window unit where my wall met my ceiling. I build a large plywood box to hold the a/c and i had a partition in the box where a window would typically be. I then individually routed each partition through the attic and to vents I installed in the soffit. It worked great.

I found a post I made when I did this. You'll need an account to see the pics though.

I picked up a window unit at a yard sale last year for $10. I just set it on the ground and closed one of the garage doors I don't use as often (like ever) on top of it, and used some 2" foam to block around the gap. it wasn't pretty but it sure worked good.
