Hi,

I'm putting a couple eyebrow windows on my garage...I'm toying with the idea of having someone make me up some stained glass ones. My thought would be to have the glass maker make it in a "standard" sized frame that would allow me to quickly replace it with a "standard" eyebrow window from Menards/Home Deopt/Lowes when my 5 year old eventually hits a home run.

But then I started thinking is there really such a thing as standard size? And if there is, will that be a standard size 5-1 years down the road...

So my question is...if I end up going with a custom stained glass window, do I make sure it's a standard size or no?

Thanks!
Patrick

Another question...

If I know the size of my window...could I frame them up over the winter and then put them up on the roof when I put the wall and roof up in the spring?

Thanks!

It is not unheard of to get a nice thermopane window and then have a stained glass made to fit inside the window. Then your stained glass is protected and the effeciency is maintained.

X2 what Larry said.

While the rought opening sizes are 'standard' the actual frame vs glass size will vary. The best thing to do is to buy a window ant then remove the glass and have your window made for that frame.

There are lots of standard size windows, I doubt they will change anytime soon... in the event your standard size is no longer stocked, you can order windows by the inch, and for more $ you can have any size made you need.

I thought as I was writing I was not clear before. I would not remove the clear glass, I would add another being the colored glass.
