I'm looking for some active and good window and door forums with product info, reviews, install experiences, etc. Looking for suggestions, please. Haven't found what I'm looking for here on GJ.
I have found this to be a local thing. Our recent purchases of exterior doors and storm doors from different people was the result of word of mouth recommendations from both friends and neighbours. They would not have probably shown up on any forum.
Generally the quality exceeds that of big box stores, when you shop local.
Don't think you will find one ... it's style application and cost?
My new build is using mahogany wood windows and doors from LePage in Canada .. beautiful and expensive. Not something I would use at my beach house -- that has Andersen 400's because of the cladding .. both inside and out (white inside and out).
Typically I use use Marvin or Pella on my personal projects -- I like Pella Al cladding and the Marvin when a more traditional wood window is needed. Pella makes a better door IMO.
The Andersen 400's are a decent product .. I don't love the doors long term .. but, for the money the 400's are a good bang for the buck.
I have also used local suppliers when something odd was needed -- there are still many regional players around. When I did two brick rentals in CC Philadelphia a few years ago -- I had to use a local maker to get the fit. Marvin was just too expensive for the application ...
Be warned -- there is no cheap and good window ... there are some that are a good value but they tend to be not as attractive.
