Windows or no windows?

i have a pretty small garage and wish i hadthe wall space that my one window takes up

Your garage is in the back.....if someone is looking in your window...then windows are the least of your worries....

No windows? The typically peeks the interest of dirt bags...."what are you trying to hide?"

If people want in...they will get in...

You can't beat natural light....

I have windows in the garage door....one window on the side where my work bench is...and the man door has a window......and I never lock my door....

I guess I'm the odd man out here! My last 2 garages had no windows. My current garage I put one window in opposite the overhead garage door. I love it! It gives good cross ventilation and I can keep an eye on the deer out in the pasture. Fortunately I live in a rural low crime area, but I completely understand the security concerns of others mentioned.

My shop has no wall windows. I have 2 insulated 12'x12' overhead doors, each having 3 windows. I also have a man door with a window. If I were to build another shop, I would do the same. Wall windows take up too much valuable space. The windows in the doors do not allow enough light to keep the O/H lights off, but when I'm working in the shop, the lights are on anyways.

My insulated shop stays at 70 degrees in the summer if I leave the doors closed, even though we get plenty of 80-90 degree days here in Ohio. In the winter, I can keep it heated to 70 degrees for less than $100 a month. And that's a 40'x60' shop with 14' ceilings and natural gas heat. If I had lots of windows it would cost more to heat, and would not stay as cool in the summer.

I personally do not miss the windows. If I want to see outside, I just go outside, or open the overhead doors.

My opinion is that it all depends where you are. My 25 x 25 has 2 windows on the wall facing the golf course, 2 nine light man doors, and 8 windows in the 16 x 7 garage door. FWIW, my next door neighbor is a police officer. I dont worry about break ins.

i would put windows in for the natural lite and ventilation but i would put them up high so that they can not be easily accessed from outside for security purposes. i have windows in my garage and i really like having them and use them quite often.
