The two test ports should also be put at 45 degrees.

Winterizing off lake front in Michigan. If in doubt on rpz, pull the guts out. I always remove inner check valves and springs.

Sorry Guys if this has been covered. I am trying to winterize it first time so will be safe than sorry. My setup is almost same as setup posted by Mattguy with two test ports and a drain port before the back flow preventer (bfp). I don't have blowout port after bfp. 2 questions.
(1) Reading though a lot of instruction on internet it says not use test port as it can damage bfp. Is it safe to use test port? Which one? Some people have also talked about Float Disk getting down. Does it happen in this setup? what to do if that happens?
(2) Where to find hose bib converter for this kind of test port? I have some 1/4 inch air hose connector but doesn't seem to fit. The test port male thread seems little smaller than 1/4 inch husky coupler that i found at home depot.

Thanks in advance. I know it may already be covered but i will really appreciate if some body can answer my specific questions.

I used a fiting the screwed onto the hose bib and had female on other end. used plumbing fittings to reduce it to 1/4 inch for a air hose quick connect. pressure it up and open on zone at a time
