I'm a little depressed.... last weekend it threatened to snow, so I had to mark it as the day to add the fuel stabilizer and get the iron out of the front garage all put to sleep in the shop.

Good night my sweet rides...until the temperatures warm again.

It's chilling out here in the mid-Atlantic. I'm thankful it was fairly warm this last week so I could get my epoxy done. Was 80 today, 79 tomorrow, 65 on Fri, but it's dipping into the 50s at night. I love this time of year!

Yep...it's winter....my central heat come on for 5 min the other night....got all the way down to 49 deg last night......I had to wear a jacket when I drove my m/c to work this morning. I even needed gloves.

It didn't get up to 70 until about 10 am this morning.....it only reached about 80 today....

Time to break out the winter shorts......

Time to get out the comforter.....

The neat thing is that when it gets cold I only have to mow the grass every second or third week....

Might even have to light a fire or two this winter.....

Yep....getting cold out there.....

I hear ya...this time of year means Biketoberfest, which is where I'm headed in the morning. Should be yet another awesome fall rally in Daytona Beach...

We're not quite to winter yet. We're in the screwy time of year when it can't decide if it should be sunny and 86 (like sunday) or rainy and 55 like friday is supposed to be. The summer smog has turned to smoke from burning leaves. Perfect for someone with asthma to be breathing all the time. All of the road construction projects around Chicago are still going strong trying to beat the first snow which is how we know it really isn't winter yet.

Pretty soon, winter will be here and everyone will be bitching because there isn't any salt on the roads. If you haven't heard, road salt is scarce this year and pricey - like 3x the price towns were paying last year. Our town sent a notice with the last water bill that they are only salting major roads and intersections this year instead of every street like last year. Sounds like Dec 2008 would be a great time to get into the auto body business in NW Indiana.

Man you guys are real party poopers. I guess I will have to check over the furnace and make sure it is ready to go. I even had the attic fan on tonight... More to get rid of what the son did to the air in the bathroom than cooling tho. It did get down to 48 one night this last week. The windows are still open tho. It looks like highs in the 60's next week, lows in the 40's. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER!!! Nothing to worry about yet. Cooking, refrigerator and freezer, 3 computers, and a TV will keep the house warm for a while yet.

Indiana is a screwy place to be this time of year...I`ve had both the shop and the house switch from heat to A/C in the same day a couple of times already
I haven`t had a car that runs for 2 years and the water toys have been put up for a couple of months now so not much to winterize this year.

If it matters I LOVE cold weather so my time of year is on it`s way.

Weather bouncing around up here, too. Mornings are in the high thirties. I am almost ready, the firewood is cut/split/stacked, the stove cleaned out, another week or two and I can adjourn to the shop to finish it upwithout feeling like I've left something undone.
I am looking forward to showing it off wth some photos when it is done.
Then I can start on the winter "list" on the '40 Ford.
After that, the '56 is calling my name. I just need a massive gov't. infusion of cash into my toy fund, and all will be well.

Just tell them the project is bankrupt or in danger of failing and they will send you a few Trillion... You DO have to kick back half to your congressman's re-election campaign and hire his nephew to sip champagne for $200M per year in the $500M house you provide in Barbados tho. If there is any cash left over you can spend it on the toy fund.

You bastards in FL, CA, KY, etc., are hearby banned from my winter post. If you don't stop going on about how nice and warm it is (or hot for Sh1T-sake!) I'm gonna go into my shop and run all the cars until it's 85F in there and I fall asleep!

AAAck - why didn't my Mom stay in Cali instead of coming to Canada!

e-tek - 2 things!

#1 Get yourself a big Modine heater (you need it). Such a shame to put all of those cool project cars to rest for the next 6-7 months.

#2 What year is the Ford truck (30? 31?)

It's getting kinda chilly here too. A cold front blew in tonight. I may have to switch to long pants in the AM :)

we have overnight frost predicted for the weekend on the high ground... and we live on the highest bit of the highest ground around here.
Everything's done and dusted except wrapping up the outside water supply. I'll get to that on Saturday.

Well, I didn't mean the shop wasn't heated...so although they are tucked in, it just means it's the time of year i can get to all thos projects. I drive 'em all summer and wrench on 'em all winter. the list is long!

the mercury is a 46. mechanically restored - runs great! quite rare so i'm told. i like it unpainted though.

maybe some of you guys braggin' has paid off - ,cause we're in for a warm sunny weekend (10C/50F), so i'll have 'em out one last time!!

e-tek they only made Merc trucks up there on your side of the border so they are quite rare . I would like to find a decent unibody Merc tailgate myself :D.

It's been 65-78 these past few days. BUT at work they turned off the a/c and activated the heaters. The buildings were like saunas for a few days. Today the heat was off, but with no air flow whatsoever, it was still like a hotbox. Most rooms don't have opening windows either.

I know when it gets cold here I'll complain about that too, but it just too muggy these days.

Yep CF got it I have a 63 ford unbody pickup and would love to find a decent Mercury tailgate for it . The unibodies had the bed and the cab as one piece much like a smaller Ranchero or ( Chebby ) El camino . They were only built for 3 years 61 - 63 due to the fact the farmers Bitched so much about not being able to open the doors after loading down the bed :D. They also made standard fleetside pickups durring this time although they used the same beds as the 57 - 60 pickups used which needless to say didnt match the body lines. They also made the stepside durring this time which was pretty much the same bed from 53 - 78 or 79 when the new squarer bodystyle came out. Mine is a bit more rare as it is a custom cab and what is called a Big Back Window . The rear window wraps around the back of the cab rather than just being a small window in the center of the back of the cab such as the truck above . With all of this it is not easy to find even a decent Ford tailgate much less a decent Mercury tailgate.

Love the Chevy II
Can`t tell from the pic...EFI or Mechanical
I`m assuming, judging by the hight, it`s on a tunnel ram ?

Sold that car because it was a 1 of 63 and wasn`t willing to cut on it and it was getting dangerous..no cage, original belts 4130 lbs blah blah blah...track didn`t find much humor in it either
Kept the drivetrain and building a new one correctly as we speak

I`ll never own another carb again
