Wire Cup Wheel Size for 4.5" Grinder?

I just recently ordered an assortment of abrasive discs and a pair of wire wheels for use with my 4.5" grinders. They arrived yesterday, and the 4.5" wire cup is HUGE . (Or, in keeping with the season, "YUUUUGE!") Now, it will cost as much to send it back, so I'll be keeping it, especially since I'm pretty sure I can use it on my 7" grinder. (Also, it's rate at 9,000 rpm, lower than either grinder)

The question is: What's a good wire cup wheel size for a 4.5" grinder?

2" hard (knotted) cup or 3" med (brush) cup

and how big of a 4.5" grinder are you talking a 5A, 7A, 13A that can make a yuuge diff....

4.5 should work great on your 7"

I use 3" on a 4 1/2" grinder as that's the smallest I can easily get locally. Even that can be hand full.

I run a 2" cup and my Fein 7amp does OK with it.

The max speed is printed right on the wire wheel. And if you're ordering online, Weiler has the max speeds for each part number on their website.

Thanks guys, sounds like I'll need to get a <3.5" wheel down the road. My 4.5" grinders are both 10+ amp. I'll use the 4.5" in my big grinder.
