If you have moisture in your car wiring harnesses and connectors, how is it best to remove? The parts store sells Wire Dryer and ofcourse there is WD40. Is one better than the other or are they about the same?
I sold both.
I would use a "wire dryer" product.
I wouldn't use WD-40 to start a bonfire - we sold truckloads of that ****. The best thing they have going for them is their marketing campaign. Gums up everything it's applied to.
If your problem is Water, then you need a water dis placer. WD-40 has been my water dis placer of choice for the last 40 years; there may other products that are effective, and I am sure there are; but 40 years of experience is very hard to argue with.
Wd40 has no business in a wire harnesses. That **** will gum up everything plus attract dirt.
It doesn't make water go away, come on now.
Pour a gallon in a full bathtub, you figure the water will just go **** and be gone?
Dry it out with air.
It's "ok" for stuff like wiping down tools, guns, etc to keep them from rusting, the odd fix of a dry squeaky door hinge, etc.
Yes, there are better products.
I know people have used WD-40 on contacts, yeah it works for a few minutes, but as it displaces water whatever it leaves behind attracts dust and dirt, the dust and dirt helps hold on to moisture, and the problem re-appears, usually as a big gummy mess...Clean it of with WD-40 again, and repeat the cycle.
