Does it matter where the wires go in a panel? All my wires including the service wire all come in from the top. I want to add another wire for a sub panel but their is no room at the top. Is it okay to come in from the side or the bottom? I would think it wouldn't matter since their are knockouts on the sides and bottom. I did notice that my new 100 amp breaker is rated for 2/0 wire on the SQ D side and my cuttler hammer 100 amp BR breaker is only rated for 1/0. I'm running 1/0 SER AL wire from the main panel to the sub panel. Thanks in advance.

If there is not a KO (knock out) where you want one, it is permissable to hole saw an opening in any place convienient.

Only if it has a main breaker that is partitioned off with a barrier from the rest of the panel. That area is reserved for the service entrance conductors only, the remaining three sides can be entered as you and of course, good workmanship permit.
