Not a critical application, but I don't want to use clamps because they are ugly and stuff gets caught on them. Also, for this one project, I don't really want to spend real money to buy a crimper. I've looked around and came seen to locate a specification for the diameter of a properly crimped ferrule on 1/8" wire rope. Surely one exists, right? Does somebody have a link?

ETA: happens every time... Swage was the right word. Haven't found what I'm looking for yet, but I think I'm on the right track now.

I was going to use a hydraulic press. Also easy on the hands but far less portable than the small hydraulic crimpers. I was looking at the harbor freight crimper but it lists wire sizes, not wire rope. I'm not sure what the correlation is to a wire rope ferrule and a an electrical lug

You just need the proper dies for the size, type and material of your wire crimps.

Or just borrow the right tool. Local fencing company here will loan you the tool if you buy the crimps from them.
