I like the Craftsman strippers that are made by Stride-Imperial. I got a pair and they're sweet.

I definitely have to agree. The Klein 11055's are my favorite wire strippers. Working heavily in the electrical trade, pretty much everything I carry on me on a daily basis is Klein. Greenlee is another good option for electrical tools, though I'm not really a big fan of their hand tools, as I have found that they generally don't fit my hands all that well.

I would steer clear of automatic wire strippers, as in my opinion, they are more hassle than they are worth, and generally speaking, don't last nearly as long as traditional wire strippers.

They are all good IMO and each kind of have their niche.
Between work and home, I have 3 or 4 different styles
The only downside I see with the auto type like those Katapults is they are kind of fragile and you can damage the small moving parts if you drop them.

Thinking about picking up these:

I notice there are also some "auto" strippers from several companies...Klein included.

Thoughts on those? Are they a hassle? Easy to operate?

They're very easy to operate, they're just not ideally suited to be carried in a tool belt or in a small tool bag while making a few strips here and a few there like a lot of residential/commercial electricians do.

If you're wiring panels, in the same spot with a wiring kit, making hundreds of connections, than they're invaluable.

Really depends on what type of wiring you're doing.

From home and industrial wiring, strippers like the Kliens you linked to or the ChannelLock 957 works well and I would not want to be without a standard type stripper tool like that.

The automatics have their place too. I not too crazy about the ones you linked too but I've had a set like this http://www.amazon.com/Gardner-Bender-GS-394-Automatic-Stripper/dp/B0018ZHTWS for close to 20 years now and absolutely love them and is what I use 90% of the time.

When I was an installer, they were invaluable, especially when working in very tight spaces and\or when needing to tap into an existing connection. Considering the cost, I see no reason not to have both as well as a good set of lineman pliers and a good crimping tool like the ChannelLock 909

this is what I use they are the same as the Klein and greenLee only easier to warranty. I cut into a live 110 volt circuit and it messed up the cutters on them. Sears exchanged them hassle free.
