Inverter welder, it wouldn't have cared. Find something with local support and go.

the new ones are multiphase; unfortunately I bought mine too early. It could absorb 230 just fine but the 50 hz would have taken the control boards right out, bricking it. I know; I did a LOt of research, as I really wanted that thing over here. WHich is why I'm looking for a local equivalent.

I've not heard of a modern inverter anything that was strictly limited to either 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

I sold my transformer MM211 to a friend when I got a less than half price CL deal on a MM252 with never used 30A spool gun, dual running gear and 3 large bottles - couple years later I wanted something more portable so bought one of the inverter MM211's - it's nice having the 2 machines (effectively THREE, since the 252 has auto gun select.)

For Lassen Forge - from the inverter MM211 manual -

Not sure if there's any OTHER problems with Italy's power, but nearly every "gripe" I had about the transformer 211 was improved on the inverter version - stronger feed rolls can push a 15' gun (but you have to buy it separately), autoset has several more options, weighs less (duh)

From what I've read tho, you might have even better options than the Miller over there... Steve

Titanium 125 here. Absolutely beautiful for many uses I've had. Would need a pretty significant job to need to go to a 220V job. My jobs are one off and simple so ymmv.

5 year old Miller 211 in my home shop, running on 220V. It's a much better welder than I am.
20+ year old Lincoln Pro-Mig 135 at the cabin. 110V Works fine on lighter gauge. Added a bottle and regulator to it this summer after 20 years runnng FCAW.

I'd consider pulse and double pulse capability if I was to do it again.

AHP AlphaTIG 200x (2015 model) for TIG & stick
Harbor Freight MIG 170 (the older black model) for MIG & flux core

I'm not a fan of multi-process machines because if one goes down, you've lost everything. And any tool that does multiple functions never does any of them as well as a dedicated machine.


The AHP has paid for itself and if it ever dies I'll likely get another AHP. If the MIG170 goes, I'd probably look at one of the newer green 120/240V MIG machines from Harbor Freight. Dual-voltage would be nice for mobile jobs.
