Wirefy Crimpers?

Anyone know anything about these crimpers?

I need a crimper that will do flag terminals. But I like the changeable dies that makes the tool much more versatile, if it is a good tool to begin with.

The reviews go both ways, I don't trust reviews anyway. I'd rather hear from forum strangers that at least have similar interests.

Or suggest another that is known to be dependable.

The image in the Amazon description showing how the Weather Pack seal is crimped looks awful. My inexpensive crimper does a LOT better job than that, but doesn't have the apparent flexibility of the Wirefy.

There are a dozen or more vendors of that type of crimper. All use the same style of interchangeable jaws, and for the most part you can swap jaws from one brand to another. I got a generic frame for $15 at a swap meet and the MSD 3509 Weatherpack jaws. This is by far the best crimper I've ever used for both Weatherpack and Packard 56 terminals. The MSD jaws make the correct heart-shaped crimp and crimp both the conductor and insulator tabs at the same time. The crimper you linked looks like a clone of that, for more money.

Get yourself a good frame and good dies. There hasn't been a lot of change in the basic frame design. Have an old (2000-ish) Milestek frame with dies for CAT and Coax that I never had a problem with. Recently bought another Milestek frame and the Klien dies for terminals, insulated and noninsulated.

I have a very similar Klein set. It came with one set of dies, and I purchased two more, so I can do uninsulated, insulated, and round (ferrule) terminals.. The crimper itself looks almost identical to the Klein. The dies in the Amazon page are a slightly different shape, but could possibly fit the Klein.

They do. There are two different designs, but they interchange. The ones on the Amazon page are designed so that you don't have to fully remove the screw to change the jaws.

Also note that the Weatherpack/Packard 56 terminals require a special set of jaws to replicate the factory crimps. The MSD 3509 jaws do that. I've found similar jaws for less money but have not tried them. I do a lot of vintage GM wiring harness repair, and those MSD jaws make very nice crimps.

Is there a set of dies that fit the MSD that do Flag Terminals? I couldn't find them. I'd like to buy a "better" tool even if it costs a bit more.

No one has replied with actual experience with the one I asked about, so I am still unsure of it.

I looked at Paladin since it is a brand that I am familiar with. But it is more or less a Telcom type tool, not so much automotive or general purpose tools. At least in my experience.

T&B makes flag terminals that use a standard crimper. They're pricey, but very good.

Not sure what you looked at, but the Paladin crimper frame is the same as the MSD frame is the same as every other generic ratcheting frame that uses those replaceable jaws. Paladin sells jaws that are designed for the Weatherpack/Packard 56 terminals. Your money, your call. All I can say is that the crimper frame is a commodity item. The jaws are what matter.

They're absolutely not all the same. I own this sort of crimper in multiple sizes.

In the generally available marketplace, I've only ever seen two styles, with straight jaws and with angled jaws. They work the same way, generate the same crimping force, and accept the same jaws. I'm sure you can find specialized versions. That's not what I'm talking about. Functionally these are all the same and take the same jaws.
