Anybody got a good quality setup?

I'm away from home 2 weeks at a time, and need to set 2 cameras up. One on the side of the garage and one at the back corner of the house looking down the pathway to the side entrance.

All probably within 100ft of where I could place a receiver and my computer.

Obviously I know wireless isn't the best choice, but because I'm currently renting I can't run any wiring (which I would do, being an electrician).

Had a look on amazon, haven't found anything with more than one good review! Price isn't an issue, just don't want to spend $2000 because as soon as we get our own place I will hard wire a system in.

My experience with wireless cameras was that they are not worth the effort. Either wire or find some way to do something else.

My experience with wireless has been less than good. Go wired, even if it is temporary and you have to pull the wires and patch the holes when you leave.

I have the Lorex. Got it from Costco....came with 2 cameras and a monitor.....

As soon as I'm finished with the 2-story addition, I'm going to add a couple of wired cameras and a DVR. We like the display because it's easy to keep an eye on the front of the house and the kids.

Will you be able to place and install 120 vac in all places you want the camera's? If not, then the whole wireless is a moot point.

Wireless isn't wireless. Still needs power for the camera. That means bringing a small cable from the camera inside the soffet, or through a wall.

Go to Supercircuits, get a real CCTV system. With a little clever tweaking, soffet material (aluminum or vinyl) can be bent to sneak a power/video cable through without drilling.

There's no comparison between the video quality of a hardwire vs. a cheap wireless camera.

Add to that ANYONE can view the video from a wireless camera. Wireless cameras operate on common frequencies. I have a receiver that can pick up many, and places like SuperCircuits sell a handheld scanner, with a built-in monitor, that can view YOUR cameras.

Now imagine if someone not only puts wireless cameras around the perimeter of their property, but also INSIDE. Yea, that's a problem.

The wired systems don't have this security threat.

If you're an electrician, you know how to sneak wires with a fishstik already...
