Wireless controlled ceiling fans?

During the design of my 74x30 5-bay workshop, I never thought to add electrical boxes for ceiling fans. Of course, now I think it would be a good idea to push some of the heat down towards the floor. I do, however, have 110V outlets in the ceiling at each of the overhead door opener locations.

Is there a ceiling fan on the market that would plug into this outlet, but be controlled from say a wireless switch panel installed in a convenient location?

You could add a cord and plug to the fan in place of the wires that is already there, but how would you mount the fan without the proper box? And if you add the box, could you also add the wire?

I have three remote fans over the swimming pool-Got them at Lowes-the remotes cost as much as the fans, but have thermostats and variable lighting settings in the remote. All you need is 110 to the fan and place the receiver inside the fan mount cone. They work great-cheaper than running all the extra control wiring.

I have one in the house and it works great. I also tinkered one up to control the shop vacuum system. I can take the control to what ever tool I am using and turn the vacuum system on and off with it.

We recently had a ceiling fan installed and I thought the electrician was going to put a new switch plate on the wall. He said most ceiling fans are ready for a remote. The fan is a Hunter. He installed it and then pulled a Harbor Breeze remote out of his tool box. The remote works great!

Do you have any part #'s of the fan & remote control? Sorry for posting this in Classifieds....I was cruising ads and failed to get into the right forum before the urge to post this question hit me! :lol_hitti

I've got 5 remote controlled ceiling fans in the house. Just a quick note, make sure that if you have more than one, change the dip switch settings before hanging the fan. The guys who installed them didn't. I had to go back and change the settings.

I've got two different kinds. The fancier one, has an LCD screen. Can be set like a thermostat, dimmer for the light, and can change the fan's direction all remotely. The other ones are more simple, 3 fans speeds, and on/off for the light.

We kept the double switches on the wall (fan and light), but never use them. I've got a buddy who has both hard switches and remotes. He mounted the remote holders just below the hard switches??? Kind of doesn't make sense to me.:headscrat
