I am trying to figure the best way to wire a heater.
I have a Modine water to air heater that will be turned on and off by a line voltage thermostat. It is going to mount to the ceiling about 5ft from the outlet I intend to pull power from. Outlet is a 20 amp rated, designated as "boiler"
If I tapped off that outlet line, can I go from inside the box to the surface of the drywall and attach the Romex right on the wall?
Or other thought would be to use SJOW wire, install a plug and attach that to the wall. That is actually how my boiler is wired. The thing with that though is the outlet is a duplex and I have 2 devices on it (boiler and water softener).... THOUGH... I did put a surge protector strip on that outlet a few days ago per request of my HVAC guy. He said he has replaced many boiler controls from power surges. Is that ok?
I have a roll of 12/2 Romex though and would have to buy SJOW.
