Wiring a Push Button Swith to WEG Starter

Hello,

I have a 10hp 1 phase motor that I am wiring up for my air compressor. I bought a magnetic starter from WEG and also a push button on/off switch that I want to work in conjunction with the pressure switch (obviously).

My first question: will this push button switch function correctly with the pressure switch on the compressor? I want to use this to turn it on in the morning, and off at night. The pressure switch will control the on off cycles during the day.

Second: The wires are labeled on the switch, A1, 13, and 14. I know A1, and I see 13 and 14, but which screws are 13 and 14? There are 2 screws in front and 2 in back on this side unit, and there are 4 different numbers on there by each of the screws. Which screw is 13 and which is 14?!? the second pictures shows what I am trying to figure out.

Also should the pressure switch be hooked up like normal, or is there a different procedure when using an on off switch as well?

Thank you for the help, it is very hard to find info on line and the wiring diagrams do not help me identify which screw is which.

I suggest you contact the dealer you bought your WEG starter from and ask for information about their suggestions for typical wiring diagrams.

For a compressor you would wire it for 2-wire control no push button required.

Just change out the push button for a 2 position selector switch. On/Off. Wire the pressure switch in series.

I use a light switch on mine wired in series between the pressure switch and the 120v contactor coil.

You dont want a push button switch for a compressor.

Get a 2 position off/auto switch

Ok, thanks for the info. I will just send this switch back and install a standard 120v on/off switch in series with the pressure switch.

You can wire a contactor to use a push button starter. You can latch the output of the contactor back to the input. You then need another push button to open the connection to turn it off. This is how the industrial style start/stop switches work.

3-wire control which is what a START/STOP push button is when wired to a magnetic starter, is not used with a air compressor, without a pressure switch, & wired for 3-wire control the compressor will keep running then the safety valve pops off, and if the 3-wire control station & the pressure switch were wired together, it would require a manual restart every time the air pressure got too low. It keeps things much simpler if 3-wire control were forgotten about when wiring starters to air compressor motors, 2-wire control & a pressure switch is the normal way to do things.

I wired my 10hp compressor using a on off on switch and two pressure switches. One set at 105 on 135 off and the other 145 on 175 off and with the switch I can control witch pressure range I want to use so that if using tools that needs lower pressures I can just have it cycle at lower pressure and if I need higher pressures it’s just a swing of the switch away
