Need to ask a few question on installing my Mr. Heater. #1 Is it best to hardwire it in or use an appliance cord and plug it into an outlet? I like the idea of the plug incase there is a problem, it is quick to unplug. #2 The mounting plates that came with it are 2 different sizes. One is longer than the other. The smaller one seems to fit into the screw pattern on the back of the unit, but the longer plate doesn't seem to mount on the front. Anyone had this problem? I wonder If I was sent the wrong sizes? #3 They show in the instructions using some long threaded rods to hand the unit with. I have a finished ceiling so what is the best way to hang the unit. What do you use to screw into the floor joices (in the ceiling) to mount the unit to? Lastly, #4 where do you wire the thermostat to inside the unit? Sorry for all the question, but I hope some of you can give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot. Scott

I would hardwire it and put a switch on the back of the heater to shut it off when servicing the unit. If you can get above the sheet rock (attic) I recommend threaded rods thru the ceiling into 1 in X 1in angle iron 1/8 thick placed between 2 or more beams. Open the control panel on the heating unit . You will see the 2 thin wires they should be marked. You also should find 2 heavy wires for the 120 volt power, white to white, black to black.

If you are unsure DO NOT HOOK ANYTHING UP!! Most units have circuit boards hook it up wrong = ****!

I used some 2" x 6" boards across the ceiling joists and drilled holes in them. Then I located the holes in the sheet rock for the heater. I put the rods through the holes, and used a large flat washer, and double nutted the threaded rod at the top. I let the boards "float" until the heater was mounted, and then attached the boards to the joists with a sheet rock screw just to keep it in place. I had all this done in advance, and then got two friends to carry the unit up the ladders and hold it while I put the nuts onto the unit itself. I double nutted everything in the end. I don't want it coming down suddenly. Check with the instruction book for the thermostat wire placement. Also, don't forget to get the heat anticipator setting out of the book and set your thermostat to that setting. I used a 12 gauge grounded wire with a 3 prong plug on the end to make the electrical connection. I like the idea of being able to disconnect quickly. Junk.....
