I have a 30AMP circuit in my garage for powering a oven that I am going to use for powdercoating some small parts. I just bought a welder from Home Depot (Lincoln Weld Pak 180) that requires 208/220v. The oven is an in-wall type with no plug, just 4 wires- red, black, white & green. The cable the electrician ran is also 4 wire, same colors. I want to put a plug on the oven instead of hard-wiring it like it is now and put a receptacle so that I can switch between the oven & welder when I want to. Is this possible?

what comes out of the oven? A cord, or a flex/MC type of deal with individual wires in it?
Flex with 4 wires in it straight from the back of the oven.

The oven and welder use slightly different wiring, maybe Jbox, hard wire the oven and add a recept for the welder using only the 3 wires needed for the oven. I am not a big fan of these shared circuits, no way to add another circuit for the machine?

Those Lincoln guys have been sniffing the circuit board resin for years when they wrote the electric specs for that class of machine, they confuse the **** out of everyone as do many mfg's,,, especially with these small machines considering many of the wiring is a DIY job. A 10 wire 30A breaker is a tailor made circuit for them. A 40 is fine too but they run on circuits as small as 20A.

It wont mess with the warranty doing something else, it ain't going to hurt a thing though having heavier either and it makes it suitable for larger machines in the future.
