Wiring Atlas 9KOH Issues

Have set up multiple 2 posts now, and this latest 9KOH Atlas lift has a different wiring procedure and I just cannot get it to work. I have been on the phone with tech over the last week, received diagrams, received replacement parts and nothing is going anywhere.

Instructions for the lift show a different AC Contactor than what was supplied with the lift (L2, L3 etc when my lift came with an 8,6,4,2 style. Therefore initial wiring info was useless, contacted tech and they gave me the correct diagram, instructing me to pitch the factory power pigtail supplied with the lift... interesting but no problem. Complete re-wired from my power to the contactor exactly per their instructions, and still simply get a very loud buzz from the contactor itself with no movement of the motor.
Informed them, showed my wiring with a video and got a new AC Contactor sent to me which still does the same thing, no luck.

Has anyone else wired up one of these lifts with the 8,6,4,2 style contactor or experienced this issue?

Here is the diagram attached they sent me to follow.

What I would do at first is try to apply power to the coil terminals, to me those are the ones at the top of the picture (black wire returning from limit switch) plus the blue jumper wire at right. Then you can carefully check whether the contacts are actually closing. It would appear you should check continuity between the extreme-left and left-center terminals, and then the extreme-right and right-center terminals.

Even though you get continuity on both of the above doesn't mean with absolution that the internal contact is able to pass enough current to start and run the motor, but it is a step in the right direction.

You could always get an IEC contactor with a 240vac coil, and at least 2NO contacts (check Siemens, Allen Bradley, probably GE/SquareD/Telemechanique) and replace the el cheapo part with something that has a more appropriate duty cycle :)

If you could post pictures of the actual contactor showing all sides and it's part number, we would be able to help you more. I'm not familiar with that lift but with more info could certainly troubleshoot the problem. The power coming in looks to be 120V, due to the black, white, green, power cord. Is the motor rated for 120V or 240V? got a picture of the motor nameplate? Is the contactor coil rated at 120V or 240V? Since I don't have a picture of the contactor terminal wiring diagram, terminal numbers don't help much, otherwise I'd be making lots of assumptions.

I will add this: where I work we have a no-name lift used to work on industrial conveyor carts. The el cheapo start capacitor is not up to the speed at which humans want to jog the motor with the "up" button. We have replaced one motor, in the defense of cheapness, they did warn with a sign stating "wait 2 seconds between button pushes".

The symptom was exactly the same, the motor just hummed with a locked rotor as there was nothing electrically to kick it off a dead stop. This is also something to look at in your troubleshooting.

I just wired my new Atlas PV9 lift and I have that contactor. Your posted image is different than what I did. I did this
White from motor on terminal 8
White from power in on terminal 6
Black from motor on terminal 4
Black from power in on terminal 2
Jumper from 0 to terminal 2 ( 0 is opposite side of contactor)
Blue wire from safety switch to #4 on push button
Brown wire from safety switch to 1 ( 1 is on opposite side of contactor)
Wire from #3 on push button to terminal 6

If it doesn't do anything, make sure your safety switch is in closed position.

I figured it out op, at least my problem. I will upload pictures soon so you can see. But the contractor would not work when inside the housing. When I pulled it out and let it hang, it would work. I really do think it is and/orv the contractor or factory wiring ( not pig tail). I flipped out on its side so no metal or leads are contacting and the wires were not crimped. I also had to swap to wires in L4 and L6.

It seems to be very touch and we'll.. Made in China cheap. But I did get it working. I'll post pics soon with details

ok so, as mentioned the contactor was not working so i replaced it via atlas warranty. it worked... then it stopped working. after lots if diagnosing i found it to be a combination of the wiring and the contactor being incredibly sensitive. i actually had to place it inside of the power unit box sideways in comparison to how it normally sits inside.

i ALSO had a problem with the L2 wire location sliding out, at one point when i put the contactor in the box to test if it was working or not, the wire slipped out of L2 ( unknowingly) and the contactor was still humming but no motor, obviously i discovered this when removing the contactor again.
so i can say is quadruple check all of your wiring and make sure it is really in contact and try operating the lift with the contactor out side of the box to let the wiring relax and not be bunched up.

the red and black are for the over head stop that will be spliced in to the far front blue push button wire a.k.a L8.

the middle red and white wire i had to change spots originally ( red L6 as shown was in L4 from factory, i dont know if this is a problem or not but every time red was L4 the lift would not raise)
far left blue and white ( L2) was my problem wires, the would not stay in the contactor and mad force to ge the bolt down was needed + angling in the contactor sideways in the box as it sits

specifically this for a better view, the factory leads are junk, but can be used. once im back in my garage ill take a pic of how it sits, the contactor seems to have to sit lik this, any other way and the lift simply does not run

Finally have my Atlas 9KOH lift installed and working! No thanks to the instructions they give you. IKEA has better instructions. If it wasn't for the fantastic people in this forum I would have spent a week trying to figure out the wiring. I will post pics when I clean up a little.
I haven't put a vehicle on it yet but I am so excited.

I am having the same problem just a buzz sound when I wire it.
Mine also is just numbers on switch no letters so factory wiring diagram don’t help. How did some of you get it to work and the overhead limit switch tied in.

I had the exact same problem with my Atlas 2 post car lift model 9KOH and fixed it when I followed the attached wire diagram in this thread. The installation instructions that came from Atlas with the lift were between horrible and outright wrong!
