My daughters house has these fans installed throughout. They are very nice, in balance and on low setting they circulate lot air from about 10’ up. What’s nice about these is you slide switch up to #1 to turn it on. That’s usually where we leave it, but there is several settings that will speed it up to circulate air faster. In my 1000sq ft retirement home I have it wired to operate light separate from fan. But will have to pull chain to increase speed.
My question: Is there any special wiring needed to operate speed using slide like in this pic? The toggle to right operated light and slide will turn fan on and adjust slide increase speed. I know I could pull switch out and take look, but wanted ask about it before show up with my tool bag at daughters house. Tks

Can't speak for how those work, but I have an Emerson DC fan that has a transmitter in the switch, normal wiring to to the fan.

Switch will reverse, change speed, dim light etc.

Fan is dead quiet and runs almost 24/7/365

There is nothing special about them, it's just a two wire control and will wire in place of a switch. Three wires on the back, hot, switch leg, and ground.

EDIT: There is a chance the speed control might have the capability of being a three way if you get a different style of speed control, there are several to choose from. If that is the case, there will be a third wire on the controller that will be marked from the factory to not use unless it's a three way. Just cap it off and forget about it.
