I want to add two 220 outlets in my garage so I can run a hobart 210mvp. a 5hp table saw and a, 5hp compressor. only 2 machines would need to run at the same time, the compressor would always be plugged in.

The closest outlet would be 11ft from the panel the other outlet would be another 10 ft down the wall I want to run the wire in the attic so there would also be a 7 ft drop down the wall.

what size wire would be needed? and breaker size? thnx

If I understand correctly, you want to be able to unplug and use the same receptacle, or at least the same circuit, with 2 receptacles, for the Table Saw and the Welder.

It sounds like you need two new 230V 1PH circuits.

For the compressor, assuming a true 5HP motor (not likely on a Husky, CH or other "5HP rated") box store compressor, but possible on a commercial unit) a 30A breaker, 10/2 with ground for wire. If it is a lighter duty compressor, check the owners manual or the motor plate for recommended wire gauge or amperage requirements.

The 5HP table saw, unless it is a beast like a Unisaw, is probably not really a 5HP motor. Look at the amperage rating on the motor at 230V. If it is under 20A, you should be able to use 12G wire and a 30A breaker for it.

The 210MVP only needs 24A @ 230V/1PH, so could share the saw receptacle or circuit, as long as they are not run concurrently.

I don't have the saw or welder yet, but yes it will be a unisaw or equilivant, 3hp version is more likely but if I find a deal on a 5hp unit I don't want to turn it down, my air compressor I need to check the motor but is says 6.75 hp on the bracket I am sure that is a max.

I want two outlets on different sides of the garage, one outlet will always the compressor plugged in the other outlet will either have the saw or welder plugged in, the saw and welder will never be used at the same time, I am trying to find the cheapest way to get it done right, What I had in mind was a single 80 amp breaker and a 50ft roll of 8/2 wire would that be the right way to do it?

When I get home I will make a drawing.

I am not sure where you are getting 80A from. A diagram of what you want to do would help a lot.

Thnx for your reply, I searched the forum and found someone asked about wiring a Hobart 210 and said Hobart recommends a 40 amp breaker, and most people recommend 30 amp breakers for 5hp compressors, so that is 70 amps there, if I am running the table saw under a heavy load or welding and the air compressor kicks on I don't want to trip the breaker.

But that was just my initial plan and if more knowledgable say other wise then I will change my plan.

You run separate circuits. You don't combine the loads onto a single circuit.

The compressor definitely needs a dedicated circuit to itself, with breaker and wire rated for the motor load.
For a multi-use receptacle that you can plug either the welder or the saw into, You need another circuit, with breaker and wire rated for the greater of the two loads. If you do find a 5HP Unisaw, you are probably safe with a 30A breaker and 10GA wire for that receptacle, as that will properly support your welder also. If you insist on daisy-chaining a second receptacle from that one, so you can keep both the saw and the welder plugged in at all times, you do not upsize the wiring or the breaker, you just run the same wire from receptacle #1 to receptacle #2. In that configuration, you do not want to fire up the saw while welding or the welder while sawing, as you will trip the breaker. There is no safe way to put them both on one circuit in a configuration that would support running them simultaneously.
