If you want it mobile, use a cord with a twist lock plug.

I saw a really cool design when I was at a car show recently. They had a 4 post lift with castors and what they used was a small "panel" of sorts that was attached to the ceiling. When the 4 poster was in use the panel came down from the ceiling and it provided air, 4 post power and another duplex plug for additional tools you'd use. When the panel wasn't needed it was pulled back to the ceiling by a simple cable. It reminded my of the coil style work light idea. This system seemed perfect for those 4 post installations where a wall isn't close by to attach the cable, air etc.

FWIW, my 2 cents.

What I did with mine was to install a 10 gauge multi strand cord to the motor. My motor is 220 volt and I used the red and black for the hot wires, the white wire goes to the neutral in the motor box. At the other end, I use a 30 amp 3 prong twist lock plug. The cord is about 8' long and will reach the wall outlet when I am finished with the install. I also made up 3 20' extension cords that will give me the ability to move the lift outside in the summer months.
