Hi, I am trying to make an annealing machine. I saw a video where the guy used a microwave's platter motor to turn a plate.

I successfully removed the motor from the microwave but I am at a loss on how to power this Synchronous motor.

My first observation is the wires from the motor are of a very small gauge.

There has to be a lot more to this...

Any ideas?

I don’t think you can control the direction electrically. It starts and it goes what ever way the electrons flows. Some are mechanically forced to go only one way. There was two threads earlier same guy few months apart asking for how to change and reverse the direction of the synchro motor for something. Both time the same answer.

In my microwave, the platter motor changes direction every time it runs. First clockwise, second time counter clockwise, third time clockwise, etc. It was designed to do that.

This OP scares me, if he didn't know how to hook up power to that motor, I don't think he should be playing with electricity.

Don’t you worry.

We will learn the shocking details later, we hope. What is he annealing? There maybe another way to do it easier and safer.

Is the direction of stirring, Clockwise or Counter Clockwise, relevant to the question about how the motor will be connected?
