Need advice for the following:
The compressor I'm installing is a 5 hp 230v according to the motor id plate.
The Amp ratings is 22A, will a 30 amp breaker work?
The conduit run to the compressor is about 40' from the panel. I plan on pulling 2 10 awg stranded and 1 12 awg solid for ground in 1/2 conduit, that would be 2 90° bends and a couple of offsets.

Is all this to code?

The ground needs to be a #10 also. Being hardwired you can used a larger breaker on the #10 if the compressor trips the 30A, but it should be okay. You need to wire based on HP of motor, not the amps listed on the motor.

As long as the 10's are xhhw or thhn/thhw cu they will be the right size. Wire needs to be rated for 35a. (28 x125%)
The grd has to be #10 at least in the flexible conduit. Not needed in the conduit if emt. 12 would be a code violation.

If your panel is in direct line of sight to the compressor, then a disconnect is not needed but it does make a convenient transition to a flexible wiring method. Just make sure it is rated for 5 hp minimum.
I would use a 40 or 50a cb for this motor circuit. I would expect a 30a to trip.
