The hoist I am having put in is 220V 30A, so I want to run 10/2 Romex in the wall over to where the hoist is... What is the proper way to get the electrical over to the power unit? Should I be using AC90 and then have a wall box for it to come out of?

I would bring the NM-b into a disconnect on the wall(unless breaker box is within sight of and less than 50' from the lift) and then run flex over to the power box.

you could use mc or ac cable (bx) or you can use flexible metal conduit. Flex means that you can add more wires later if you want to.

the picture you posted is liquid tight metal conduit. it will generally be more expensive than flex unless you get the pre made whips with the wire already in it.

Yeah sorry was using the term BX for AC, i'm bad that way...

The good news is the hoist installer is ok with using just some NMD on the floor to get it installed and then i can do it clean later.

This is my solution for my hoist that slides along a rail. Set the dedicated plug on central ceiling location...and ran 10/3 power coord. To rails to allow for the coord to travel. Works great.
