For a air compressor that is the last thing you want, a selector switch wired in the control circuit to shut off during periods of non-use is desirable but the pressure switch should be controlling the motor, with a start/stop control station the safety over
pressure device will activate because there is no way to shut it down automatically w/o a pressure switch.

Yup, what he said. The pressure switch creates the circuit to pull in the starter and the on/off switch just breaks that circuit. A simple toggle switch somewhere. To put a momentary push button in, you would need a separate latching relay to control the magnetic starter solenoid circuit which is controlled by the pressure switch. Not worth the time and effort.

Agree with others, I don't think you want a momentary run/stop pushbutton set.

This will have to "seal" the coil of a relay to work properly, and it can't seal in the motor starter...pressure switch must have control. So, you would be adding an additional relay to the control box, and I don't see a lot of extra room, even for an ice cube.

A maintained switch (like a toggle, its mechanically maintained in the two positions) is a better choice. Could also be a "selector-" or "keyed-" switch with the same physical attributes.
