I came across some 6" recessed can lights I want to use in my "carport area" 15'x20' 9' ceiling. It's the same roof as my detached garage and will have 3 walls at the time of the inspection.
I also wondered since the ceiling is going to be sealed (the entire "carport" is going to be enclosed as soon as the final inspection is done so for safety purposes it doesn't matter) can I use regular 14/2 Romex wire for the ceiling and 12/2 for the walls or do I need to buy the "outdoor" rated wire even though it will technically be indoors. The ceiling is going to be closed in and insulated, as are the walls. I already got the "waterproof outdoor gang box" and covers for the carport outlets since they will be exposed, but the wiring will always be protected and dry...
Here's what I'm working on

and here are the lights I am thinking of using...

They are rated "UL listed for damp locations" and I have seen them used in overhangs & soffits before, but wanted to make sure they are OK per code...
I was going to ask my inspector, but he hasn't returned my call yet...
