wiring modine heater

I am going to put in a Modine HDS 60k hot dawg heater....does it need it's own circuit breaker and home run wire? It only draws 1.2 amps (1/12 hp motor)on a 115v. Also can assume 14/2 wire can be used? Wiring up the garage right now so now's the time to install wiring for unit.

What does the instruction manual say? It is considered a furnace which requires a separate circuit. Some locations require these furnaces to be hard wired, while others permit the use of a line cord plugged into a receptacle. It provides the disconnect close to the device, otherwise a switch, etc would be needed if hard wired.

A 15AMP circuits using 14/2/w/ground is fine.

Sounds like you are doing a good job of planning. I'm sure you are giving thought to installing the thermostat wire. My only regret with the furnace project was not providing a conduit for it instead of burying it in the ceiling.

For what little power it takes I would add an outlet close to the unit off of an existing outlet circuit and plug it in.

Thanks for the reply's. Sounds a little more involved with code then something cut and dry. I'll give a call to the town building inspector and get his take on it.

I'm trying as hard as possible to cover all my wiring needs before the insulation goes in and sheet rocked. i've been scouring this site getting ideas and trying to avoid as many errors as possible Almost impossible but limiting them is key.
