Wiring my new building

Good afternoon everyone. I’m sitting here watching the SEC championship baseball game (woo pig!!) and I’m pondering how I need to wire my shop. It is a 30’x40’x12’ with the 3” fiberglass insulation but not finished out other than that.

I had an electrician hook into my house’s main panel and get everything up to code minimum with 100 amp service. Me and a buddy are going to wire the rest.

The horizontal beam is 8’ high, so I think I’ll have to run the power outlets down some so we can actually reach them. Is some kind of unistrut required for this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your outlet boxes and the conductors feeding them need to be securely mounted. If they are in conduit, the conduit needs to be mounted.

You don't want your electrical installation flopping around like a drunken sailor.

Armoured cable (AC or MC) is appropriate for metal studs/buildings. You'd have to check your code for details.

In the US, AC and MC cables have the same requirements for protection from all and any physical damage as NM cable.
The same is true for flexible conduits of all types

Yea we’ll be running conduit for the wires, and my buddy said MC from the junction box down to wherever I want the outlets. Was just wondering if there were other options other than mounting unistrut 8 feet long down to the floor for every outlet I want to put. Thanks for the input everyone! Keep suggestions rolling.. I’m a novice at this!
