Hi,

I know this has been discussed a million times, but i would still like to get a confirmation. My new 32x48 garage is 230ft from my main panel in my house. At first i was going to run conduit and then use individual THWN wire, but i think might be too difficult for me and too expensive.

My main panel is 200A, i want to run 100A service to my garage. The run is 230ft and there are multiple turns i have to make. I am thinking MHF because i can direct bury it at 24".

Im assuming because of my distance i should not use 2-2-2-4, but instead 2/0-2/0-1-4 cable instead?

Also MHF will enter into my house and go 2-3ft before it enters my main panel, do i have to run that through conduit?

Thanks again,

From what I found in my jurisdiction we can reduce the neutral up to 50% if we can prove with calculations. Most of my large loads will be 240V (mini split and lifts).

Why is it hard to find MHF with all the same size conductors when you go into the larger sizes?

Above #10, the EGC doesnt ever need to be the same size as the grounded or ungrounded conductors...

I understand the EGC not needing it, but you would assume the option to atleast have the neutral the same size in the marketplace.
