Wiring two post lift

Hey guys so as the title says I’m getting ready to wire my newly installed bendpak xpr-10as two post lift. I left the romex long coiled up at ceiling and installer just wire nutted that to the pigtail as he's not liable for electrical work. So I have a direct home run of 10/2 romex coming across truss then I was thinking of putting in a junction in attic and switching to maybe BX or the seal tite flex conduit. What do you guys think is the nicer way to get the power Down lift column to power unit from ceiling? Also I want to run this power down lift column and into a shut off switch. Also I want to mount the switch to lift column abive the power unit. Which box would you use to mount the switch in and run power in/out of? Thanks guys

BX doesnt exist anymore. it has been replaced by AC.

Liquid tite is not necessary here, is a waste of money and hard to deal with since it has memory.

MC or EMT would be best.

What is the HP rating on the motor? that switch is rated for 2HP max @ 240v

Seems as though ^ answered the OP better than I could, but I figured to lend a suggestion. When I installed my 2 post, I ran a 120v duplex receptacle down each post. Incredibly useful for lights or battery maintainer. You seem to be at that stage.
Just a thought.

Oh I gotcha so what I saw in hd was MC then, so it seems that’s probably the way for me to go then. I just went out to my garage and the motor is indeed 3 hp, so that switch I linked is out. What would you recommend for this then?

As for a 120v receptacle, I am going to definitely ask my friend that helps me about doing that, does seem like it’d be useful for sure

here's what I have for my xpr 10cx.
the tw goes just above the bottom chord of the truss, then it's #10 romax to a 30 amp breaker in the panel

Ok so you have a 30 amp disconnect mounted. So you just kept the straight run of romex but protected it in conduit from the truss on down? Do you switch the disconnect off at the end of each day or just leave it on for most part?

no I don't switch it off ever.
I think I got that box at homedepot it wasn't very much money.
you really don't need the fuses as long as you have a breaker in the panel.
I can't remember why I bought a disconnect with fuses (it's been in there for 9 years)
it may be all they had available.

yeah it's one continuous run of romax from the panel it's just protected by the conduit from the joist down

I switched over to flex and conduit. Wasn’t sure if inspector would require as the post can move under load.

It looks like one of those switches that's sold for use with power tools like table saws. Here's a link to it at the Home Depot website: https://www.homedepot.com/p/POWERTEC-110-220-Volt-Paddle-Switch-71007/207185617 Note that it's rated for 2hp at 120vac and 3hp at 240vac.

^^^spec for that switch according to hd link^^^

So the motor on my lift is 3 hp 240v. This switch is good for that?

Honestly not sure. Usually Amazon but don't show an order. Below is something similar. Just make sure its 220v. With the conduit it was a pain to install. only needed a single gang box but because of the conduit coming in and the connector i had to change to a large 2 gang with conduit on the left side. Then had to cut a single gang plate to fit as the disconnect was wide.
Got this type as if i ever have to hit it I will be in a bad situation where seconds count. Note you will have to drill and tap a few holes no matter what you do.
