Does Proto have their name stamped on anything made in Taiwan/China?

Yes, their ratcheting wrenches are made in taiwan at the proto factory, their new one with the i-beam design are made in the USA. But the proto ratchet wrenches are excellent. No complaints on the black chrome set I have.

The previous generation of ratcheting wrenches as already been mentioned, other than that, the rest of the Proto imports are European (Gripon pliers, some screwdrivers, Facom based fine toothed ratchets).

Not all estwing are made in the USA. They have things made in japan and taiwan. I have a blacksmith hammer from taiwan and a nail crawl from japan.

Their battery spreading/reaming pliers are made in China but they are not stamped anywhere with the Proto name.

The Proto battery service set is listed as China.

Their spark plug boot pliers are made in Taiwan.

Other than the couple of things previously mentioned, that's about all I know. I've got a rebranded 1/4" Facom flex head ratchet from Italy, a set of locking pliers from Spain, and the Proto "Super screwdrivers" are USA shanks with English handles, assembled in the USA.

Their US website proudly proclaims made in the USA since 1923.

Toolguyd/Estwing said:
We have had a mid-range line of hammers and bars made in Taiwan for about 9 years. We also have a line of high end Japanese pattern bars which are made in Japan.

However, our core line of Estwing tools are made in the USA and that will not change. Over 95% of the tools we sell are made in the USA.
