Hi,
I’m Mike and I’m a bullet vise addict.
I never knew this was a thing but, I started lurking around this site a long time ago and all the really cool kids used bullets vises, so it seemed easy to fall into using. Then I found myself becoming not just a spectator but, actively seeking out suppliers. I find myself pursuing my habit when no one’s home, using the oven to preheat before painting without my loved ones knowing. Making sure to clean up any residue before anyone can see.
Well the best thing to do is acknowledge my weakness and move forward. I need someone who knows a lot to tell me what a machinist model is and what the other ones are and how they differ. I just picked up a 9300. The throat is very short. I’m picking one up Tuesday that’s much larger but, the seller isn’t interested in getting me much information on it. I’ve seen bullets that have MUCH taller jaw shelf’s that arch upwards gracefully, others go almost straight up with pipe jaws. Some with large anvils that stretch the length of the static half, others have a flat spot but you wouldn’t really call it an anvil. Tradesman, combo, swivel jaw OY!
How many models of bullets did they make? What does each on look like?
drivesitfar has done a real service accumulating production data.
How about a graphic guide, a pdf we can all use from time to time? At least those of us and others in the future new to the hobby.
We would need someone who knows ALL to precisely identify and describe the options and advantages of each one. I have a 9300 and I don't know what to call it. A bench vise, a machinists vise (that term is applied widely to all bullets on ebay and elsewhere).
