Wizard wrench

I found an old 4" adjustable wrench in my box - says it is a Wizard with H and 2400 stamped after that.

Other side of the handle says Forged Alloy Steel & Made in USA.

not a bad feeling wrench

Any info on this brand?

If the wrench has a "V" code it's Vlchek, if it is a "D" it's Duro.

The "H" material for Wizard is all produced by Duro-Indestro in Chicago as far as I know.

The tools Vlchek made for Western also had the same H prefix in the same model numbers.

Here's a Vlchek DOE and a Duro tappet. Didn't Wright make sockets for them at some time too? Was it early wizard production or was it later?

I will hasten to add that New Britain also supplied Western Auto in this era, but Westcraft. Following the intuitive pattern that Duro ("D") and Vlchek ("V") used, tools are marked with an "N". We have a fine Western Auto thread going, started by Rileyan, which S&A linked in post #2, where you can see many examples. Or, you could always find it, and other topical threads, in the alphabetical Index in the Sticky.

This 4" adjustable has the "H" as noted in the OP. With glasses and a lot of light I can also make out what looks like an "I" or a single straight line up closer to the head.

Indestro maybe? I know Duro and Indestro were closely related but were two different companies until they merged in the late 70s or 80s.
