Found this old Wm Johnson Newark, NJ trowel at an estate sale yesterday and was wondering if anyone knew the approximate age of it?
From what I've read, they sold the company to CS Osborne in 1938, so I'd guess this shovel was made some time prior to 1938
On another note, I'm surprised how well the shovel blade has held up over the years apart from the wood handle

Hmm, DAT says the name went until 1957. Need to dig a bit more.

I think WVaMark might have missed something, or a typo, as these guys were still here in 1953

Another book says the buy out was 1958, but too tired to go drag it out. Will give Mark some othoughts later.
