I picked up this bench vise from a carpenter's shop recently. Since I bought several other pieces of very good quality equipment (Parks 12" planer built in the late 1950s, beautiful vintage Craftsman pedestal belt sander, etc.) he gave me this vise for free. It's a Woden 186B/00 made in England.
The jaws are only 2 1/4" wide, but it's surprisingly heavy for its size. Other than needing some lubrication it looks like it's in good working condition. I've tried to find information for it online, but came up with nothing. Apparently they made several different sizes of this vise and I was able to find references to the 186B/1, /2, /4, etc. But nothing on the /00. Can anybody guesstimate the date of manufacture for this vise? Any info on it at all? Thanks.
