wish i could but theres no way thats gonna happen, when my grandpa dies, his brother is gonna go right and sell it, i mean hes a good man, but sometimes all he cares about is money.

Can't you tell your Pap what you would like to do and he can leave you his half when that time comes ( sorry soubds morbid to talk like this but...)and then you could buy your great uncle out .

Those are great photos and history. Nothing wrong with asking about trying to keep the building in the family. I think sometimes people assume that younger family members have no interest in keeping something around. Talk to them about it. You might be surprised.

Yep. You need to ask. You can show him (them) GJ shops and say how cool it would be to keep the shop in the family. Is it still a working shop? Do you (or did you) spend time there as a kid or now? Would you run it as a personal shop or business? Are there other siblings who have an interest in it? There are lots of things to consider. Those block walls, windows and "stuff" in the yard sure do bring back memories!

We never thought we'd have a chance of buying our 1930s auto shop, but we asked and the answer was "yes". Ours was in much worse shape than that building. It can't hurt to ask.

Yea It would be a damn shame to sell that and have it become a stupid *** strip mall of some ****, That needs to stay the way it was.... Make every effort to inform the uncle that the real estate market is totally in the *******.
