Hi All,
First, Bill and his wife sucessfully boarded a plane for his work with the International Justice Mission (http://www.ijm.org). I drove them to the airport and we surprised him with a crowd there... We gave them a good send-off!
Second... our status in the DIY market:
I've had discussions with SO many of you offline about our exit from the DIY market. I really appreciate the kind words and the help that some of you have given us. I know that many of you were disappointed about our exit from this market. We knew that without Bill we didn't have the additional resources to service the market. Continuing to sell into a market that you can't service well would be (is) a breach of moral character. There is a really good book that I've read that says that good character is worth more than silver and gold. So, we chose to keep a good name above profit.
Our company growth has been measured in hundred fold increases for the last few years. Last year we increased our sales by over 400%. So far this year we are over 200% and it's only April. With all of that said, deciding whether to continue on in this market was a tough decision. I knew if we were going to do it that we would need an exceptional individual/company to service the market. We prayed about it alot and an indiviual from these forums kept coming up. So, Andy (our Operations Manager) and I flew to sunny California and met him. Most of you know that we are pretty picky about who represents us and that we require training and knowledge.
I'm really pleased to announce that we have selected Fred from Alpha Garage to represent Wolverine Coatings Corporation products to the DIY market. Fred is a member of SSPC and will be receiving training from both SSPC and Wolverine Coatings Corporation in May. Fred is no stranger to swinging a hammer and doing other DIY projects. He is a 'gearhead' like many of you and understands what you need and expect. In his former life, Fred was a Hollywood director and has been in real estate development. You've almost certainly seen his work or at least heard of it. Sometime soon (maybe today), Fred will be adding a post to explain where we are and what we're doing. I can tell you that we can't start out by just opening the floodgates. We still need information since only about 5% of the people who purchased products from us kept thier agreement to send us pictures and critique our instructions. Also, Fred is going to need to ease into this...
So, what I do know is that we need about 10-15 people who will keep an agreement to send photos and critique our instructions. We will do our best in the next week to spell out if greater detail exactly what we need. If you have an upcoming project please send all of that communication to Fred...
You can PM him at 'AlphaGarage' on these forums!
Again, thanks for all of your support!
Eric
