Question for the masses:
I picked up an old floor jack today, and I knew it was a little wonky when I got it; that came in handy at price-negotiation time. I'm pretty sure it's been overloaded at some point because one of the front wheel spindles is bent: it's not bad, but it's just enough to annoy me.
I'm wondering if there's a way to actually fix it without cutting the old parts out, making a new spindle and welding it back in. I don't know that I can heat and bend the existing one back into alignment, and even if I could I'm not sure that it would last past the first lift: it's been fatigued once, so it seems like the spindle will just bend again, the first time it sees a load.
So: any way to solve this, or am I causing more trouble than it's worth by trying?
