Wood boilers

I'm debating using a outside wood boiler in place for my garage, and suplimental heat for my house. I'm looking at radiant floor heat for the garage. Concrete won't go in until spring. (temp finally dropped here in Pa).

Anybody have any experiences with a similar setup?

Do you have any close neighbors? They smoke like mad, and they're pretty inefficient as well. (not a problem if you have an ample wood supply, but if you're buying it, it'll make a difference.)

Indoor "wood gasification" boilers are much, much cleaner, and more efficient. Of course, they cost more too.

My brother-in-law has one. He's been pretty happy with it, just looking for other experiences.

Mike pretty well said it.
They smoke. They moke less the hotter they burn.
This leads to something that may seem wrong at first. Figure out your heat requirmrnts, then go with the boiler one size SMALLER then what you need.
The idea is to keep the thing going at full blast, not sitting around in smoky "idle" mode.
Make a leakey walled, for air ciculation, shed for it so you can store the wood close and be out of the rain and snow when you have to reload it.
