Never hurts to try here on GJ, but if you don't get enough responses you might check out Hearth.com. Lots of folks over there who are really into everything about burning wood.

I found lots of info over there I found helpful in buying a couple of high efficiency fireplace units a few years back.

I have lots of info on them, the FEMA document is available free online. I made a small one in a tin can and cooked over the gas once. they still run machines on them in some 3rd world countries, and did a lot during WWII as well.

Totally different than what the OP is about.

He's talking a wood gasification boiler. It's a downdraft wood fired boiler that get's very high efficiency and high temps.

Big money and you need to have a storage tank since they are supposed to be run full blast until out of fuel.

Yes, had a Dumont in my house. Takes alot of room as you need a large tank. Worked great , endless hot shower. Fired it every night in the winter

oh. the OP did not specify he was talking about some type of boiler, a wood burning gasifier is a common setup in other circles...
