Hi All,
I came across some 2x8 amish rough-sawn oak boards years ago and have been saving them for a special occasion.
The idea struck me to use it as flooring for the entryway into the pole building, roughly a 10x6 foot area.
Currently the floor is compacted bank run (small stones with lots of fines) that is level with the bottom of the walk-in door opening
What should I use for floor joists? I was thinking 2x4PT on 12" centers, directly over the gravel, with a plastic vapor barrier between the two. 2x6 would be better, but I'm not driving on it or installing any heavy tools, and the height of the flooring on top of 2x6 might be awkward.
Anyone done something similar? Should I just excavate some of the gravel out so I can set the floor joists flush with the doors? The door isn't installed yet, so I could also raise the header and move the door up a few inches too.
